Biography

Leonard Nevarez received his Ph.D. in sociology at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1999. His research interests include quality-of-life politics, urban restructuring and urban development, and the formation of place traditions and cultural milieus. He is the author of New Money, Nice Town: How Capital Works in the New Urban Economy (2003) and is currently writing a book on the idea of quality of life. Courses he teaches or has taught include Introduction to Urban Studies, Urban Theory, Community Development (crosslisted in Sociology), Sociology of the New Economy (in Sociology/STS), and Quality of Life, Corporate Power, Introductory Sociology, and Research Methods (in Sociology).
